I saw the world change, but of one thing I continue to be sure: investing in people is the best guarantee for a successful business.” Franco Togni, founder and President of Automha, leading company in the planning, production, and installation of intralogistics systems, was nominated an “Official of the Merit Order of The Italian Republic.” “I was not expecting it – he adds – I am a practical, concrete person: when they told me, I was speechless.” A production headquarters also in China In 1979, inside a garage near the Accademia Carrara in the city, he founded his company that today can count on about 200 collaborators (of which 140 are in the Azzano San Paolo base), a second production center in China and 6 commercial branches (Italy, India, Spain, Canada, USA, and Mexico.) “If I look back, the biggest change in all this time was without a doubt the arrival of the Internet. It changed family and work life for each of us, it shortened distances, it made the entire world one market with which to confront ourselves.” Automha today is guided by children Gianni Togni, Vice President, and Roberta Togni, General Counsel and CSR Officer, and by Giuseppe Stefanelli, CEO; thanks to them, the new Merit Official has some more time to play golf, at Colli di Bergamo, or work in the mountains. “If I were to start over now and work, I would with the awareness that studies are important: when instead I was young, the priority for me and my peers was to begin to work as soon as possible. Then I realized that studying was necessary: the evenings, after the day, I opened books and I graduated. But what counts more is to have the desire to know, to understand, to learn. I’m convinced it is more important to train the person rather than the technician who is indispensable to our business activities: an entrepreneur can draw the best from a mature and cultured person.” The name Togni in the roster of awards On the inauguration of the new headquarters in Azzano, President Togni was literally surrounded by his employees: “I treat them well – he admits – but moreover they are passionate, like I am, about our work. With each of them I have a relationship of esteem and respect, in just a bit they will retire those that have worked with us for 40 consecutive years. Now that there are many of us, I have one distress: not remembering the name of someone.” That of Franco Togni, however, is written in the roster of awards from the Presidency of the Italian Republic.
