Automatic warehouse for gaskets

Duci, founded in 1983, is headquartered in Chiuduno, in the province of Bergamo, and is a leader in the global rubber seals industry. Over the years, Duci has specialized in the production of O-Rings and technical rubber details, asserting itself in the European market.

The company has grown and developed thanks to the competence, tenacity and resourcefulness of its people. The service and the excellent quality-price ratio have also enabled its continuous growth, contributing to the creation of one of the most important companies in the sector.

Problem
Due to the rapid growth of daily shipments, Duci found itself having to rethink the internal logistics of its warehouse. To find someone competent and professional to whom to entrust this project, Duci has “played at home” and turned to Automha, whose head office is only a few kilometers from that of Duci’s.

Solution
Automha presented a project to Duci that was immediately appreciated and perfectly responded to the new needs for efficiency improvement in warehouse flows. The client’s need was to make use of a pre-existing, recently constructed building. Automha approached this project starting from a careful analysis of the building’s conditions and, above all, the operation of Duci’s activity, to provide the most suitable solution. The decision landed on the installation of two miniload stacker cranes, called Booster. These machines guarantee efficient collection from and storage of goods in the storage locations, responding to the high handling needs required by Duci.

The plant is composed of two lanes, inside which the Booster machines move through the interlocking shelves, using a combined telescopic fork. Depending on the size, the boxes can be stored at 4 or 6 depths. The warehouse occupies an area of 100 x 30 x h 12 m and connects with the outside at two distinct areas: the first, on the ground floor, includes two picking bays refilling multiple production lines for direct loading; the second, on the first floor of the shed, instead has only one picking bay refilling for loading.

The warehouse can manage the storage of 60,000 loading units. All controlled by the AWM software designed by Automha.

Advantages
Duci was very satisfied with the solution designed and implemented by Automha. The need was to transform its warehouse into a fundamental part of its supply chain, making it a basic factor in reducing costs and increasing the level of service. Thanks to the AWM software designed by Automha, all the operations are managed automatically, thus considerably reducing the margins of error and speeding up the storage practices. Moreover, thanks to this solution, the material is available simultaneously, on two lines, allowing the shipment at any time of any type of article available.
