Bergamo, Donizetti Theatre, Wednesday, April 6th at 8 pm

It is a festive day that marks the beginning of the official activities of 2022 dedicated to Gaetano Donizetti, organized by the Donizetti Theatre Foundation (Fondazione Teatro Donizetti.) It’s the “Donizetti Revolution vol. 8” that, Wednesday, April 6th at 8 pm, will take the stage at the Donizetti Theatre in Bergamo. By now a highly anticipated annual event to unveil to the public in the form of a show the 2022 program of the Donizetti Opera festival.

Ideated and created by Artistic Director Francesco Micheli in collaboration with Alberto Mattioli for the dramaturgy, this eighth edition will see the mezzo-soprano Annalisa Stroppa and the pianist Hana Lee on stage, as well as other surprise guests.

The evening’s presenting partner is Automha.

“We enthusiastically support the new edition of the Donizetti Revolution” – affirms Roberta Togni, General Counsel & CSR Officer of Automha, a Bergamo company and leader in the international market of intralogistics and industrial automation, and the presenting partner of the Donizetti evening.

“We appreciate the extraordinary context of quality expressed by the competencies and artistries of the protagonists of this cultural event, with which we share values, passion, dedication and the strong will to pass on the culture and skills acquired over the years to future generations. For Automha, culture is a crucial component to collective and individual wellbeing, an integral factor in quality of life. Because of this, the synergy that has come out of creating between the Donizetti Theatre Foundation (Fondazione Teatro Donizetti) and our company has given life to a positive driving force that we hope will spread like wildflower throughout all of Italy.”

“To be Donizetti Ambassadors is a reason of pride for us at Automha, for the culture of our Bergamo, recognized all over the world; the same pride with which we bring our Made in Italy product to the global market” adds Franco Togni, President of Automha.

For this new edition of the Revolution, there were different high schools around Bergamo involved:

  • Liceo Amaldi di Alzano Lombardo
  • Liceo Sarpi il Liceo Manzù di Bergamo
  • Istituto Romero di Albino
  • Istituto Zenale e Butinone di Treviglio
  • Liceo Federici di Trescore Balneario

The students, during the school-work alternation passed in the theater followed by the festival’s education team in collaboration with the editorial group Sesaab and in the context of the PIC – Piano Integrato della Cultura da parte di Regione Lombardia (Lombardy Region’s Integrated Culture Plan) (Cantiere Teatro – Youth Education Program of the Donizetti Theatre), created some video contributions and some of these videos will be part of the show, others will instead be available on the social media profiles of the Donizetti Opera already in the next few days.

“Donizetti was a revolutionary of art, inventor of Italian musical romanticism – underlines the dramaturg of the festival Alberto Mattioli – always ahead of his time, genius creator of stories in which we still believe because they are emotional dynamite that explodes in the heart and the mind. To revolutionize the revolutionary, put it in contact with the contemporary, to explain that they are not old stories, but eternal stories, is the homework of the Festival. The “Donizetti Revolution vol.8” exists to tell the story that we can, and to tell why we will in this way: those who perform shows announce their shows while doing a show. An evening of words, notes, images, films and reflections with the Festival’s Artistic Director, Francesco Micheli, with some of the best voices that we will listen to in Bergamo, with video contributions thanks to the school-work alternation children. To explain that Donizetti was not a comforting icon of the past but a stimulus for the present, our contemporary that for two centuries has explained to us how we are and why we are that way. But also, to discover together with him is a show, a party, a joy. Revolutionary.”
